After studying Chemistry at the University of Athens, Dr. Katerina Vamvaka received a PhD in Biochemistry from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich. As a graduate student, she taught laboratory courses and supervised two diploma theses. She was a post-doctoral research fellow at Harvard Medical School, studying protein misfolding in Parkinson’s disease. Upon returning to Greece, she worked at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens. Katerina has designed and taught 2 courses at the Athens College IC-Summer School (2012-2017), the American Community Schools (2017) and the College Year in Athens (2022-2024). The first one was a "Crime Scene Investigation" hands-on workshop, in which students performed science experiments to solve a crime, and the second one was a "Kitchen Chemistry" workshop, in which students learned about practical aspects of Chemistry and Biology, while cooking delicious Greek recipes. She is currently Operations Manager at Analytical Instruments SA.
